Scientific Program Committee

We are excited to present this year's renowned speakers who will be joining us from across the world.

Daniel Sojka

Biology Centre, Czech Academy of Sciences

Senior researcher at the Institute of Parasitology, Biology Centre CAS, in České Budějovice, Czech Republic, where his work focuses on tick biology and tick-borne pathogens. His scientific career began under the mentorship of Petr Kopáček, with an early focus on the molecular mechanisms of blood digestion in the tick midgut. He contributed to the characterization of intracellular proteolytic networks responsible for host blood protein degradation in ticks, highlighting their essential role in development and reproduction. In his independent research, he focuses on ticks (particularly Ixodes ricinus) and tick-borne apicomplexan parasites of the genus Babesia. His work integrates biochemical, functional genomic, and proteomic approaches to investigate proteolytic enzymes and proteostasis pathways that regulate parasite development, host–parasite interactions, and transmission. His current research aims to establish and apply advanced functional genomic tools in Babesia to enable systematic analysis of essential genes and regulatory pathways. More recently, his work has centered on the ubiquitin–proteasome system as a key regulatory hub and promising therapeutic target in tick-borne parasites. His long-term goal is to identify and validate novel intervention strategies targeting both tick vectors and tick-borne pathogens within a One Health framework.
